Football boosters meeting

Volunteers needed for Habitat
MONTROSE — Habitat for Humanity has one home under construction, and a green space which needs work. Volunteers, in teams or as individuals, are needed immediately for the following tasks: siding installation and painting. Volunteers will be trained for the tasks and work with Habitat homeowners. ReStore, with construction materials and gently used household goods, will open for sales Sept. 12. Sixty volunteers are needed to staff the store. Hours are flexible. Green waste drop off
MONTROSE — The new City of Montrose Green Waste Drop Off Center is now open. Meals on Wheels volunteers needed
MONTROSE — Volunteer drivers are needed for the Meals on Wheels Program in the Montrose area. There are between 80 to 85 meals delivered to the homebound Monday through Friday from the Montrose Pavilion Senior Center, on six different routes. The meals are picked up at 11 a.m. at the senior center. Each route takes from 45 minutes to one hour to deliver. Volunteers usually sign up for one week at a time. Task force targets pedestrian safety
MONTROSE — The Traffic Issues Task Force, a group commissioned by the City of Montrose to examine current and future issues within the city, has targeted pedestrian safety as one of its top priorities. An educational pamphlet containing “rules of the road” and safety tips for pedestrians and motorists has been prepared for distribution to the public. The Montrose Police Department and Montrose Fire Protection District personnel will be working cooperatively to distribute the pamphlet to pedestrians and motorists on the street. Habitat needs volunteers
MONTROSE — Volunteers, individuals and groups, are needed by Habitat for Humanity for Montrose County to continue construction projects on two homes in the Mesa Vista subdivision off Locust Road. Habitat is a non-profit, ecumenical organization that builds houses, at no profit and no mortgage interest, with qualifying families.

The center currently has one recreation activity scheduled on the second Thursday of each month and is looking for volunteers for this program. Training and support is provided. MONTROSE — A new series of La Leche League meetings are being held at The First Church of the Nazarene in Montrose. Services available include monthly informational meetings, lending library and 24-hour phone help for breastfeeding problems or questions. All mothers and their babies are welcome. MONTROSE — Now city residents can authorize payments for city utilities directly from their checking or savings accounts at no charge. You can start this service by calling the city of Montrose Utility Billing Department at 240-1466 and a form will be mailed to you. Residents can also access the form on the City Web site at http://ci.montrose.co.us.

MONTROSE — Montrose Memorial Hospital and the Montrose RE-1J Interagency Transition Board have created a human services resource guide for the central Western slope of Colorado on the Web site www.montrosehumanresource.com. Current participants are encouraged to visit this Web site and check their information for accuracy. MONTROSE — The Montrose Library offers a selection of books and materials free for taking in the “free room” at the library. There are tax forms, information about a variety of organizations and programs in the community, magazines and mail order catalogs. In addition to a selection of books, the room also features encyclopedias, computer books, Readers Digest Condensed Books, miscellaneous fiction and nonfiction books and textbooks. Children’s books and magazines are offered when available.
