Thanks to you readers, we “get it.” So, here’s another toe in the Hillary water.
It’s hard to pass up a chance to comment on a recent story in which the Clinton campaign is making a lot of noise trying to choose a campaign theme song. Really. Many will recall the 1992 Democratic convention where a joyous Hillary and Tipper Gore danced to Jounrey’s “Don’t Stop Believin’.” Bill and Al stood nearby, grinning.
Of course, that was eons ago, pre-YouTube days. Expectedly, the Clinton campaign has had a lot of suggestions. Like the Monkees’ “I’m a Believer” and U2’s “Beautiful Day,” and the Police’s, “Everything She Does Is Magic.” To those who don’t buy into the Hillary campaign, there have been suggestions like “Let’s Call the Whole Thing Off” and “Cold As Ice,” by Foreigner.
The Clinton campaign is in need of some Internet/YouTube buzz, since Sen. Barack Obama, her likely competitor for the nomination, is able to raise millions with a wink and smile. Hence, the effort to find a suitable song. Some other suggestions:
Says one analyst: “Hillary’s the embodiment of modern American politics, control-freakery and micro-calculation. It’s a chance to have a little fun.”
We can hardly wait for Dennis Kucinich’s song contest.
