MONTROSE — The world wide web just got a little more informational for those interested in governmental data pertaining to the Western slope.

The public now has access to a new factual Web site established by the Bureau of Land Management Uncompahgre Field Office; Delta, Montrose, Ouray and San Miguel Counties; and the SouthWest Data Center, Inc.

By visiting http://www.southwestdata.org/projects/dip/interagency.htm, the public has access to various resources regarding Western Colorado.

It allows curious citizens from all areas of the world to look-up data from several different governmental agencies, and familiarize themselves with information expanding from federal mineral ownership to county zoning.

The BLM has been working in collaboration with the surrounding counties beginning in the summer of 2006. The goal has been to provide the public with BLM information specific to the Western slope, like oil and gas lease data, stipulations regarding oil and gas leasing, and mineral ownership status.

Also on the Web site, viewers can click on maps of the Uncompahgre Plateau Project, the Colorado River Water Conservation District and the FGDC Cadastral Subcommittee. Maps of Delta, Gunnison, Montrose, Ouray and San Miguel Counties and the city of Montrose are also available.

Links to the new Web site can also be found at www.co.blm.gov/ubra; www.deltacounty.com; www.co.montrose.co.us; www.ouraycountyco.gov; and www.sanmiguelcounty.org. Those interested in information regarding BLM public lands or federal minerals found in the BLM Uncompahgre Field Office can call (970) 240-5300.
