 GRAND JUNCTION — Clara L. Woods, age 66, of Grand Junction, Colo. died Tuesday, Aug. 28, 2007 at the Commons Assisted Living Center in Grand Junction, Colo.

She was born Sept. 21, 1940 in Montrose, Colo. to Clifton and Majel Lorene (Jamison) Woods. She never married. 

Miss Woods graduated from Montrose High School and Western State College in Gunnison. She worked as a teacher for a number of years for the Delta County School District. 

Clara was a member of the Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Fruita.  Her hobbies and special interests included Colorado history and animals, especially horses and dogs. She was especially fond of her dogs, Twinkle, Heidi and Duchess. She did a great deal of volunteer work over the years including at the Veterans Hospital in Grand Junction where she earned a 1000 hour service pin. She also volunteered at the Fruita Chamber of Commerce and at various projects for Family Health West in Fruita.  She also served as a judge for Cedaredge High School Speech Team events. 

Survivors include a sister-in-law, Tanya Woods of San Antonio, Texas, and special friends Kathy and Brad Kolman of Delta, Colo. and Joyce Taylor of Grand Junction, Colo. 

She was preceded in death by her parents and a brother, Clifton Woods, Jr. 

Donations may be made to Western State College Scholarship Fund or Cedaredge High School FFA, c/o Mesa View Mortuary, 682 1725 Road, Delta, CO 81416. 

Funeral services were held on Friday, Aug. 31, 2007 at 9:00 a.m. at Mesa View Mortuary Chapel in Delta with Brad Kolman officiating.  Burial followed at Delta City Cemetery.
