Frank William Cornell
June 17, 1945 — Sept. 23, 2007

MONTROSE — Frank William Cornell, age 62, of Montrose, Colo., died at University of Colorado Hospital in Denver, Colo. on Sunday, Sept. 23, 2007. 

Frank was born on June 17, 1945 in Chicago, Ill. to William and Kathryn (Switzer) Cornell.  He spent his childhood in Chicago and graduated from high school there. Frank attended college at the University of Michigan and graduated from Roosevelt University in Chicago, Ill. 

He served in the U. S. Army and was a sergeant at the time of his discharge.

He married Linda M. Blizek on Aug. 19, 1967 in Chicago, Ill., and they celebrated their 40th anniversary this year.

Frank was a police officer for 18 years in Bolingbrook, Ill. and retired as a sergeant from the police force in 1991.  He and Linda then moved to Montrose where he was a gunsmith. 

He was a member of the Montrose Rod and Gun Club and the Blue Knights. Everyone he knew liked him, and he enjoyed being around people. His life was his wife and family, and he dearly loved the police department, gunsmithing and hunting. 

Survivors include his wife, Linda of Montrose; one daughter, Karen Barker and her husband Matthew of Montrose; one daughter, Janet Cornell of Greendale, Wis.; one grandson, Dyllon Barker, age 6;  one granddaughter, Jordon, age 2; one brother, Earl Cornell and wife Patty of Arkansas and one sister, Beverly DeRuntz and husband Leo of Florida.

A private family service will be held at a later date. Family requests no flowers, please.
