Fall is here, the weather's nice and there's plenty of opportunities to get out this weekend to enjoy this time of year with family and friends.

Kicking off the weekend is the Colors in Concert Over Montrose. It starts Friday with a balloon glow (weather permitting) and wine tasting. There will be food, music, a balloon launch and plenty of activities for young and old Saturday and Sunday (See next page for complete schedule).

The Class 2A, No. 4-ranked Olathe Pirates host rival Hotchkiss Friday night at 7 p.m. The Olathe High volleyball team will look to improve on their 7-1 mark and also hosts Hotchkiss at 5:30 p.m. The Olathe cross-country team heads to Gunnison for a meet.

• Tomorrow afternoon, join the fun along Main Street with the annual Montrose High School Homecoming parade, which starts at 1 p.m. The Montrose High volleyball team hosts Durango at 6:30 p.m., and turns around to host Montezuma-Cortez Saturday at 11 a.m.

The football team's Homecoming game is Saturday at 1 p.m. against Westminster. The MHS football booster club will be kicking off the pre-game festivities Saturday with a pancake breakfast from 7 to 10 a.m. at Applebee's. The Montrose Wrestling Association will sponsor a tailgate party prior to the game.

The Montrose High cross-country team travels to the Moffat County Invitational as well.

HUNTING

Our ares is also in the midst of hunting season and the Western Slope remains one of the most popular hunting destinations in Colorado. There's no hassles with the airlines to get here, because it's home.
