MONTROSE — Socorrito “Cora“ Ulibarri, age 78, of Montrose, Colo., passed away Sunday, Nov. 4, 2007 at the Montrose Memorial Hospital in Montrose.

Cora was born Nov. 4, 1929 in Bingham, Utah to Matias and Manuelita (Maestas) Fresquez. She and her family moved around the southern United States, living in Colorado, Utah and New Mexico.

She married Mike Lujan who preceded her in death shortly after their marriage. In 1960 she married Pete Pacheco; the marriage ended in divorce.

Cora lived several different places including Leadville, Colo. before finally settling down in Montrose in the 1950s.

She married Estevan “Steve” Ulibarri in July of 1977, the couple celebrated their 30th wedding anniversary this past July.

Cora worked for the Montrose Memorial Hospital in the laundry department for 20 years.

She was a faithful member of St. Mary Catholic Church in Montrose.

She will be remembered by those who loved her as a loving and caring woman who “crocheted beautifully,” loved to cook and above all, loved her family, especially her children and nine grandchildren.

Family members who were blessed to share Cora’s life include her husband, Steve, of  Montrose; as well as three children: Debbie Pacheco Curtis, Ray Anthony Fresquez, both of Salt Lake City, Utah; Pete Pacheco of Colorado Springs, Colo.; three stepdaughters: Anita (Leroy) Jiron of Montrose, Colo.; Louise (Gene) Medina of Denver, Colo.; Donna Barela, of West Jordan, Utah; and two stepsons: Ernie (Judy) Ulibarri of Woodland Park, Colo.; and Steve (Cheridee) Ulibarri of Denver, Colo.

She is further survived by nine grandchildren: Cassandra Quintana Pacheco and Francheska Quintana Pacheco, and Isaiha Quintana Pacheco, all of Montrose, Colo.; Jessica Pacheco Curtis of Bronx, N.Y.; Anthony Paul Curtis, Dominique Fresquez, Marcellino Fresquez, Khrisma Fresquez, and Issac Fresquez, all of Salt Lake City, Utah.

Cora is also survived by three sisters: Rose (Manuel) Zamora of Brighton, Colo., Mary (Pablo) Montano of Salt Lake City, Utah; Dorothy (Ted) Valencia of Montrose, Colo.; and two brothers: Demico (Barbara) Fresquez of Red Cliff, Colo.; and Donald (Rose) Fresquez of West Jordan, Utah.

A visitation followed by a rosary for family and friends will begin at 5 p.m. on Wednesday, Nov. 7, 2007 at the Valley Lawn Funeral Home Chapel. A funeral mass in celebration of Cora’s life will be officiated by Father Don Malin on Friday, Nov. 9, 2007 at 10 a.m. at St. Mary Catholic Church. Interment will follow the service at the Grand View Cemetery in Montrose.
