Winifred Catherine (Parry) VanOver Winifred Catherine (Parry) VanOver March 16, 1931 — Nov. 27, 2007 MONTROSE — Winifred entered into her glory Nov. 27, 2007 due to complications from Alzheimer’s disease. Winnie was born March 16, 1931 at Porter’s Hospital in Glenwood Springs, Colo. to Wilfred and Minnie (Crist) Parry. She spent her childhood in Marble and attended high school in Glenwood Springs, Steamboat Springs and graduated from Gunnison High School with the class of 1948. Winnie married Charles VanOver on Aug. 5, 1950. They have two children: Charles, Jr. and Cherlyn. She was a homemaker while they were in school. Winnie worked for Colorado Mountain College as a bookkeeper for 22 years. She retired in December, 1993. She was greatly loved and respected by her co-workers. Winnie enjoyed dancing, gardening, golf, baking, traveling, playing the piano and organ. She especially enjoyed helping others and ‘High Adventure’ weekends with her grandsons. Winnie is survived by her husband of 57 years, Chuck; two children: Charlie and wife Lynn, and Cherie McNaughton and husband David; two grandsons: Joel and wife Megan, and Justin; one sister, Dorothy O’Fallon; one sister-in-law, Doris Kelly; one brother-in-law, John and wife Lonnie; several nieces and nephews and many wonderful friends. Cremation has taken place. A celebration of her life will be held at 10 a.m. on Saturday, Dec. 15, 2007 at St. Stephens Reformed Episcopal, 2504 Sunnyside Road in Montrose. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to St. Stephens Reformed Episcopal Church, in memory of Winnie VanOver, 2504 Sunnyside Rd., Montrose, CO 81401.
