Tracy Lee Chinery

April 24, 1998 — Feb. 16, 2008

AMES, Iowa — Tracy Lee Chinery, 9, of Ames, Iowa, formerly of Rifle, Colo., passed away at the University of Iowa Children’s Hospital in Iowa City, Iowa, on Saturday, Feb. 16, 2008 after a sudden illness.

Tracy was born on April 24, 1998, to Mr. Colin L. Chinery and Ms. Donna M. Lawton in Glenwood Springs, Colo. Tracy was a fourth grade student this year at United Community School in Boone, Iowa.

He enjoyed riding his horse “Bob,” watching the Dukes of Hazard with his Dad, camping out, and chasing his brothers and sisters around anytime he got the chance. Daily, he took his dog “Lady” for a walk past his first real girlfriend’s house whom he talked about nonstop. Tracy had recently taken an interest in “caving” with a group of school friends. Anything Tracy could do outdoors or with other people made him very happy. He was passionate about anything related to police or emergency services and wanted to be a firefighter/EMT just like his Dad.

Tracy was a member of the Washington Happenings 4-H Club of Story County, a Webelo I with Cub Scout Troop No. 140 in Ames, Iowa, and a frequent camper at Camp Hantesa.

His grandparents, Marion “Bud” and Lorna Chinery and Elfreida “Kitty” Lawton; great-grandparents, Ralph E. “Pat” Patterson, Jr., and Charles and Esta Blauvelt; an uncle, Stephen Chinery; an aunt, Susan Chinery; and a cousin, Shane Gaulke preceded him in death.

Survivors who were blessed to share his short but jubilant life include his loving parents, Colin and Mary Beth Chinery of Ames, Iowa, and Donna and John Aldridge of Grand Junction, Colo.; twin brothers, Thomas “Tommy” and Torin of Ames, Iowa; a sister, Tiffany Burch of Grand Junction, Colo.; a sister, Tessa Chinery of Sheridan, Wyo.; and a brother, Travis “TJ” Zigmond of LaVernia, Texas; grandparents, Ralph E “Pat” III and Rita Patterson of Ames, Iowa, and Alvin Lawton of Craig, Colo.; great-grandmother, Beverly Patterson of Des Moines, Iowa; and many other family members and friends who will miss him more than words can express.

Services will be held on Tuesday afternoon, Feb. 26, 2008, at 1:30 p.m., at Crippin Funeral Home in Montrose, Colo. Interment will follow in the Olathe Cemetery in Olathe, Colo.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests memorials be sent to the South Story Bank, 101 Main Street, Slater, IA 50244 in Tracy’s memory, and will be donated to his favorite youth organizations.
