The Montrose Daily Press recently hosted two live forums with Montrose City Council candidates competing for the District IV and At-Large seats.
We want to know what you thought of the live forum as well as any issues you might have had while viewing. It would also be helpful for us to know how we could improve upon the webcast in the future and to also let us know what went well.

This blog is also a good place to discuss the candidates and issues themselves from the live webcast or from the video segments we have provided, viewable by topic in segments, on our "multimedia" page.
In a nutshell, we want to know the Good, the Bad, and the Ugly.
Thanks,

This is absolutely fantastic!
Eight out of those same ten people would leap-up to scream SOCIALIST if they had to pay another 1% sales tax to create a bus system.
The fare box will not support a bus system in a scattered population such as Montrose. It has to subsidized.
You don't know about the existing bike routes?
Potholes? How about the difference between the city and the county? "

That means improved roads and for sure not a scheduled bus for people who have a broken car.
You have to get REAL about bus service! It costs big-bucks and can't be just a stand-by for when your car is busted. "

I have seriously considered running for city council. I did not because:
1} Where I live, the only seat available is 'at large' and the effort is not worth it for a two year term.
2} I don't think my health would stand up under having to suffer through the meetings required. One has to curb one's response to stupidity.
3} Naturally, I doubt I could be elected. "

you can come into the 21st century now.......
dial up was superceded years ago.......
...can anyone even by a computer with a dialup modem in it anymore?....haha

You know so much more than the rest of us. Maybe you should run for office and fix our problems. I would vote for you.
Everybody knows in this modern world "dial-up" is like driving a team of horses in the Indy 500. So don't be so quick to bash the DP just because you have "dial-up" problem. And if this problem lasts up to four hours seek high-speed assistance.
I thought the debates were a good technical achievement for the DP.... And, President Bush is still a moron... long live democracy!!! "
MichaelSW wrote on Mar 13, 2008 11:17 AM:
Nowadays, High Speed DSL or Broadband is just as cheap as dialup. Call Quest and ask them how to hook up. You just need to rent or buy a modem that plugs into your current PC, which should have at least Windows XP or Windows XP2 installed. Approximately 80%of people are now on high speed. If you don't want to go through Qwest, you can get high speed from Bresnan, our local cable company. Also, most cities, mainly larger ones do have plans in regard to illegal citizens. Internet has info. "
BaldJim wrote on Mar 11, 2008 9:28 AM:
How many people have 'hi-speed' internet connections so they can look at your stuff? Not me. I'm still "dial-up" so if your stuff works, it takes a long time.
Is there some way you could hook-up with the city's cable channel to use it for something other than a slide show? "
BaldJim wrote on Mar 11, 2008 9:18 AM:
That's not the city council's problem.
Do you have any local issues under control of the local government to ask about? "

I was just wondering who that anonymous person is on the cool looking motorcycle with the big american flag flying off the back? They have some sort of political sign too. I could'nt tell is it's male or female, black, white, etc. They are covered from head to toe in a suit with a tinted helmet so a person can't see their face. Maybe Montrose has a Superhero! ha! "
