On July 3, 1949 she was united in marriage with the love of her life, Robert N. “Bob” Kirkpatrick, at Paonia. Marge and Bob had the joy and privilege of sharing 54 years of marriage prior to Bob’s death on Jan. 22, 2004.
She was a business partner with her husband and was proud of the fact that they had the longest standing liquor license in Montrose County. They started with the No Delay Café and Bar, then Cascade Liquor and finally they started Bootlegger Liquor.
Marge loved her family and spending time with her grandchildren. She was also a wonderful gardener and raised beautiful roses. She loved to write, sing, go fishing and was a big support for her spouse; she was always ready to help him and loved going on trips in the mountains with him. She loved to make up silly but educational stories that fascinated children.
Surviving family members who were grateful to share Marge’s life include her one son, Tom Kirkpatrick of Mesa, Colo.; two daughters, Kate Kirkpatrick and husband Don Morehouse of Montrose, and Rita Bevan and husband Dennis of Mesa, Colo.; eight grandchildren: Eric Bevan and wife Susan, twin great-grandchildren Jackson and Heston; Ty Bevan and fiancé Carrie Ann Nichols; Hank Bevan and wife Jackie; Daniel Hamilton and wife Beth and great-grandchild Lillian; Kari Vitoria and husband J. R.; Jessica Kirkpatrick and fiancé Blake Treadway; Keli Kirkpatrick; Ken Morehouse and wife Tina and great-grandchildren Daniel and Lexi; one sister, Betty Wood; and one brother, William Fisk and wife Helen.
She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, three brothers and one sister.
A funeral service will be officiated by Pastor Paul Nystrom at Crippin Funeral Home Chapel on Friday, March 14, 2008, at 1 p.m., with burial to follow at Grand View Cemetery.
Memorial contributions may be made in memory of Marge Kirkpatrick to the Alzheimer’s Association, 2232 N. 7th St., Suite B1, Grand Junction, CO 81501.
Arrangements are being handled under the direction of Crippin Funeral Home, 802 E. Main St., Montrose, CO 81401 (970) 249-2121.
