By order of Gov. Bill Ritter, flags are being flown at half staff today in honor of Colorado Law Enforcement Memorial Day.

A law enforcement memorial service is held annually, the first Friday in May, to honor and remember fallen law enforcement officers from the previous year.

This year, the names of Trooper Zachariah Templeton and Aurora Police Officer Douglas D. Byrne will be added to the memorial. Both officers died in 2007.

The governor's office said in a press release that, based on historical research, three other names will be added:

Lamar Night Marshal J. Horace Frisbie, 1906; Routt County Deputy Charles E. Gibbs, 1929 and Paonia Town Marshal John Amour Stitt, 1952.

The annual ceremony was held earlier this morning in Golden.
