(Clyda) Jean Schaublin

May 24, 1919 —  May 13, 2008

 MONTROSE — (Clyda) Jean Schaublin was born on May 24, 1919 to Clyde H. and Norma Pauline Mason, in Denver. Her early school years were spent in Telluride and Lake City, Colo. She graduated in the Montrose High School Class of 1937. On Aug. 13, 1938, she married Richard M. Schaublin of Delta, Colo. In 1951 the family moved to California, where Jean continued her career in retail sales. She retired from J.C. Penney Company in 1969 and she and Richard moved to Pinetop, Ariz. where they owned and operated the Ponderosa RV Park. They subsequently moved to Apache Junction, Ariz. and Jean returned to Montrose in 1993 after Richard died.

Jean attended St. Paul’s Episcopal Church as a young woman and upon returning to Montrose she was a member of St. Stephens Reformed Episcopal Church.

Jean is survived by her daughter, Norma Haynes (Terry) of Montrose, Colo.; sons, Richard Schaublin Jr.(Rose) of New River, Ariz. and John Schaublin (Donna) of Russellville, Ark., and sister Betty Tye (Gordon) of Montrose. Also surviving are six grandchildren, seven great-grandchildren, numerous nieces and nephews and her canine companion Buster Brown.

She is preceded in death by her parents, Clyde H. and Norma Pauline Mason; her husband, Richard M. Schaublin; and her youngest sister, Joan Mason Cummings. 

A visitation for family and friends will be held Friday, May 16, 2008, from 4 to 7 p.m., at Crippin Funeral Home Chapel. A funeral service in celebration of Jean’s life will be held Saturday, May 17, 2008, at 3 p.m., at St. Paul’s Episcopal Church on Sunnyside Road, with Rev. Larry Day and Deacon Robert Storch officiating. Entombment will follow the service at Cedar Cemetery in the family mausoleum.
