Keith Armand Greager May 10, 1922 — June 23, 2008 MONTROSE — Keith Armand Greager, age 86, died of natural causes on Monday, June 23, 2008 at San Juan Living Center in Montrose. Keith was born May 10, 1922, in Placerville, Colo. to Rudolph and Essie (Beach) Greager. He spent his childhood in Norwood, Colo. In 1939, Keith enlisted in the Army and served as an infantryman when he was 17 years of age, stationed in Hawaii at Schofield Barracks. When he was honorably discharged, he went back to finish high school and got his degree from Norwood High. His family remembers him being the oldest student in school. Keith played football for Norwood High and two years in a row the Norwood six-man football team won the state championships. During his lifetime, Keith worked as a coal miner, variously in Paonia, Price, Utah, Dove Creek and Cortez. At one point, he worked for 10 years in Feather Falls, Calif. at the sawmill there. Keith was a member of the Coal Miners Union in Price, Utah. Among his interests was hunting arrowheads. Keith is survived by his son, Bryan (Kathy) Greager of Medford, Ore.; his brothers, Howard (Betty) Greager of Norwood, Colo., and Oren (Jan) Greager of Grand Junction, Colo.; two grandsons and one granddaughter, as well as numerous nieces and nephews. Keith was preceded in death by both parents; his wife, Deanna; two sisters; and four brothers. No services are planned at this time.
