MONTROSE — Leonardo Grajeda, age 79, of Montrose, Colo., passed away early Monday morning, Aug. 11, 2008 at his home in Montrose.
He was born March 16, 1929 in El Consuelo Gran Morelos, Chihuahua, Mexico, the son of Jose Mario and Consepsio (Garcia) Grajeda. Leonardo spent his childhood and was raised in Mexico. He met Paula Salazar, and they spent 50 wonderful years together before she passed away on Sept. 6, 2006 in Montrose from a tragic accident after being hit by a vehicle.

Surviving family members include his 10 children: Estela Simental of Glenwood Springs, Colo., Saul Grajeda and wife Francis of Glenwood Springs, Gerardo Grajeda and wife Terry of Delta, Colo., Guadalupe Perea and husband Matthew of Roy, Utah, Rosa Grajeda of Montrose, Humberto Grajeda and wife Maria of Montrose, Leonardo Grajeda and wife Nettie of Montrose, Olga Lilia Carabeo and husband Efren of Cuahutemoc, Chihuahua, Mexico, Paulo Grajedo and wife Bette of Glenwood Springs, Colo., Jorge Grajeda and wife Adela of Cuahutemoc, Chihuahua, Mexico; 20 grandchildren; 25 great-grandchildren; and seven great-great-grandchildren.
Leonardo was preceded in death by his wife, Paula; son, Jose Manuel Grajeda; one daughter, Irma Grajeda; and two grandchildren.
A visitation for family and friends will be held on Wednesday, Aug. 13 and Thursday, Aug. 14, from 7 to 8 p.m., at the Crippin Funeral Home Chapel. A Funeral Mass is scheduled for Friday, Aug. 15, 2008, at 1 p.m., at St. Mary Catholic Church. Rite of Committal will follow the Mass at Grand View Cemetery, west of Montrose.
