Workshop to analyze affordability of health care Staff ReportMONTROSE — This week, residents have the opportunity to see how affordable health care is for them. On Thursday and Friday, Montrose County Health and Human Services is holding six different “health care affordability workshops.” The workshops’ objective is to help households budget for health insurance. The program is part of Colorado Voice for Coverage’s goal to increase access to health care by making it more affordable. During the sessions, participants will fill out a confidential household budget survey on what they can afford for health insurance. Child care is provided at no cost and participants receive a $10 gift certificate. To complete the budget survey, participants need to bring pay stubs and bills related to essential expenses, such as housing, transportation, debt and household bills. To register for a workshop, call 252-5012. The sessions are Thursday, Aug. 14 from 9 to 11 a.m., 1 to 3 p.m., and 6 to 7:30 p.m.; Friday, Aug. 15 from 8:30 to 10:30 a.m., 11 a.m. to 1 p.m., and 1:30 to 3:30 p.m. All sessions are at MCHHS, 1845 S. Townsend Ave, and participants only need to attend one. The workshops are an opportunity for the public to help inform policymakers and the public about health care affordability, according to Colorado Voices for Coverage. |
