MONTROSE — U.S. Sen. Ken Salazar has endorsed Montrose state house candidate Noelle Hagan for the District 58 seat. Hagan’s campaign made the announcement in a press release, in which Hagan said she was “honored” to have earned the senator’s support.

“With her local governmental experience and reputation for bipartisan approaches to problem-solving, Noelle Hagan is an ideal candidate to represent House District 58 in the Colorado state Legislature,” Salazar said in a statement also furnished by Hagan’s campaign.

“I endorse her candidacy and urge the citizens of Delta, Dolores, Montrose, Ouray, Montezuma and San Miguel counties to elect Noelle Hagan as their state representative.”

Hagan, a Democrat, is running against Cortez Republican Scott Tipton. She previously received the endorsement of Salazar’s brother, U.S. Congressman John Salazar.

Tipton recently secured the endorsement of former U.S. Sen. Ben Nighthorse Campbell.

Hagan, a former Montrose mayor, served eight years on the Montrose city council. She worked as a resource developer for the Montrose Memorial Hospital and has extensive community involvement in housing, education and foundations.

She announced her candidacy last July.
