Mary Ann Wallace

OLATHE — Mary Ann Wallace, age 79, a lifetime resident of Olathe, Colo., passed away at her home on Sunday afternoon, Aug. 24, 2008 with her family by her side. Mary was born Dec. 12, 1928 in Olathe to Joseph W. and Ruth (Newton) Cook. She spent her childhood and received her education in Olathe. Mary married Clarence Wallace on Sept. 10, 1946 in Olathe. Following their marriage, Clarence served his country in the United States Navy and Mary left with him, but returned to Olathe after his honorable discharge two years later.

Mary was a member of the Montrose Christian Church and worked hard to raise her family. She enjoyed her home and caring for her yard and garden.

Surviving family members include her husband, Clarence Wallace of the family home in Olathe; children, Richard Wallace and wife Judy of Roberts, Mont., Cynthia Drexel and husband Bob of Gunnison, Colo., Greg Wallace and wife Laura of Las Vegas; one grandchild, Todd Drexel and wife Myndy; and one great-grandchild, Hannah Drexel. Mary was preceded in death by her parents; two brothers, Glen and Rex Cook; one sister, Patty Cook. A private family service will be held with interment at Olathe Cemetery in Olathe, Colo. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions in honor of Mary Ann Wallace may be made to Hospice & Palliative Care of Western Colorado, P.O.
