MONTROSE — Patricia  “Pat”  A. Distel, age 62, of Montrose, Colo. passed away on Thursday, Aug. 28, 2008 at Valley Manor Care Center in Montrose.

Patricia was born on Dec. 21, 1945 in Norton, Kan. to John Gaylord and Colleen (Fitzhugh) VanHouten. She spent her childhood in Kansas, Oregon, Olathe and Montrose and graduated from Olathe High School.

Pat married Martin “Butch” Distel III at St. Mary Catholic Church in Montrose, Colo. Her family was a very special part of her life; she also enjoyed reading, cooking and playing Yahtzee.

Survivors include her husband of 45 years, Butch, of Montrose; three sons, Donald K. Distel, Richard A. Distel and wife Denise; Bradly M. Distel and wife Cindy, all of Montrose; her brother, Doug VanHouten, of Grand Junction, Colo.; her sister, Kay Yorty, of Denver; and two grandchildren, Chelsea B. Distel and Bradly M. Distel, Jr.

She was preceded in death by her parents, one sister, Doris J. Fitzhugh, and three brothers, Lee VanHouten, Randy VanHouten and Kelly VanHouten.

Memorial contributions may be made in Memory of Pat Distel to Hospice & Palliative Care of Western Colorado; P.O. Box 1804; Montrose, CO. 81402.

A memorial service will be held at Crippin Funeral Home in Montrose on Tuesday, Sept. 2, 2008 at 10:00 a.m. with inurnment to follow at Cedar Cemetery.

Arrangements are being handled by Crippin Funeral Home in Montrose (970) 249-2121.
