Tom was born Dec. 26, 1913 at Hale Center, Texas to Joe and Ollie Pearl (Boliver) Waide. He joined the U.S. Army in January 1942. He was a World War II Veteran and a staff sergeant with the Reconnaissance Sq. Hdqs and served with the 17th Calvary Troop. Tom was very proud to be a veteran and served his country in World War II. He was sent to Normandy Beach for the invasion of France and continued on to Belgium, Holland and Germany.
After his discharge on June 30, 1945, he worked for various ranches, Meadow Gold Dairies, Holly Sugar Beet Factory, the Town of Hotchkiss and Dr. Wilson as ranch manager for the IX Ranch in Hotchkiss.

He married Sandra Davis on Jan. 10, 1974 in Montrose, Colo. She survives.
Tom raised paint and quarter horses. He was a member of the American Quarter Horse Association, The American Paint Horse Association and the Colorado West Paint Horse Association where he served as president in 1984 and was on the board of directors for several years. Tom served on the Delta County Fair Board for 30 years. He was Delta County Fair Grand Marshal in 1984. Tom was involved in 4-H for many years and enjoyed team roping and showing horses. He was a lifetime member of the BPOE Elks Lodge in Hotchkiss and served as Post Commander for VFW Post 9333.
Tom will be greatly missed by all his family and friends.
He is survived by his wife Sandy of Montrose, Colo.; his son, Allan and his wife Roxy of Castle Rock, Colo.; his daughter, Sherry and Jerry Kitsmiller of Montrose, Colo.; his step-sons, Joel Davis and wife Cindy of Pomona, Calif., Robert Davis of Denver, Colo.; step- daughters, Meschelle Quine and husband Tom of Charlotte, N.C., and Sheryl and husband Jim Wardlaw of Paonia, Colo.; numerous grandchildren; and one sister, Mrs. Wally Davis of Grants, N.M.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Joe and Ollie Pearl Waide; his first wife, Margaret Belle; four brothers: John Ed, Charlie, Billy, and Bob Waide; and four sisters: Cassie Stephens, Jo Nell Layman, Ida Keller, and Mary Belle Sims.
A visitation for family and friends will be held from Tuesday, Sept. 9, 2008, from 4 to 6 p.m., at the Taylor Funeral Service Chapel in Hotchkiss.
A funeral service honoring the life of Tom will be held Wednesday, Sept. 10, 2008, at 10:30 a.m., at the Taylor Funeral Service Chapel in Hotchkiss. Interment will follow at Riverside Cemetery in Hotchkiss with military honors presented by V.F.W. Post No. 9333.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions in Tom’s honor may be made to one of the following organizations: BPOE Elks Lodge No. 1807, P.O. Box 96, Hotchkiss, CO 81419; V.F.W. Post 9333, P.O. Box 2, Hotchkiss, CO 81419; or to Hospice and Palliative Care of Western Colorado, P.O. Box 24, Delta, CO 81416.
Arrangements are under the care and direction of Taylor Funeral Service and Crematory.
