MONTROSE — On Aug. 26, 1929 in Crawford, Colo., Peggy Christian Litz was born to Frank and Leafa Christian. Peggy’s early life was spent on the family farm, attending school and graduating with honors from the Crawford school system. On May 7, 1954, Peggy married Harry Dell Litz in Hotchkiss, Colo., shortly after his return from the Korean Conflict. The family moved to Montrose, Colo. in 1956 due to Dell’s transfer with Utah and Western Colorado Power. They remained in the same home for 52 years.

In her lifetime she studied avidly, was an oil painter of landscapes, animals, and waterfowl. Gardening was a large part of her life. Harvesting the garden and the orchard, led to time spent canning and preserving, which helped sustain a young growing family.
