Forrest said Montrose's Erin Reardon and Courtney Geesing had standout performances.
Reardon had 14 kills, while Geesing added 11 and no hitting errors.
Montrose's Katie Abel also stood out with four aces overall.
Despite the win in the first set, Forrest said the team regularly has problems in the second set.
"We started out well, but we had a lot of errors in the second," Forrest said.
Despite the second set loss, Montrose came back to win the next two sets. Forrest said she was happy with the turn around.
"I was proud of them for their comeback," Forrest said. "They didn't let up in the third or fourth set."
Forrest said she hopes the Lady Indians will continue to build confidence and that they will work on keeping the momentum.
"We have to keep that momentum going after we win the first set," Forrest said. "We need to do that and stay positive to win."
