For three years, Grand Mesa Dental Hygiene in Delta has provided preventive dental care for area residents over the age of 60 with support from the Region 10 Area Agency on Aging, according to a news release. Recently, the Dental Prevention Program dropped all income requirements for the service.
Those who qualify for the program can receive preventive cleaning and a dental evaluation that include screening for oral cancer, and dental and periodontal charting. Participants can also receive information on home care and nutrition. One hundred percent of the allowed costs are covered by the program, according to the release.

"We will be able to see more folks," said dental hygienist Mary Vigil. According to the release, she can transport her equipment to off-site locations. "Our service is still based on the priority of needs, but when space is available we will see whoever needs care."
