MONTROSE—Dean Jacob Sell, M.D. passed away on Friday, Sept. 26, 2008 at St. Mary’s Hospital, Grand Junction, Colo. from complications following surgery.
He was born near Littlestown, Pa., on Feb. 16, 1936 to the late Stanley and Mabel (Forry) Sell. He graduated from Littlestown High School in 1954, where he was the quarterback of the football team. He graduated from Gettysburg College in 1958 and entered Temple Medical School, Philadelphia, Pa., graduating in 1962. From 1963-1965 he served in the U.S. Army Air Force as a flight surgeon. He continued as a flight surgeon in the Wyoming National Guard for 15 years retiring with the rank of colonel. In 1966 he opened a general medical practice in Boulder, Colo. In 1969 he entered an anesthesiology residence at the University of Colorado Medical Center. In 1972 he began his career as an anesthesiologist at St. Anthony’s Central Hospital in Denver, where he practiced until he retired in 1992. He continued living in Denver until 1998, when he moved to Montrose, Colo. He lived there until his death. Dr. Sell was an avid traveler, visiting 66 countries on all seven continents.

Funeral services will be held at Little’s Funeral Home, 34 Maple Ave. Littlestown, Pa., on Saturday, Oct. 4 at 11 a.m. with his brother, The Rev. Dr. Kenneth Sell, presiding. A viewing will be held one hour prior to service time Saturday at the funeral home. Interment will be held following the service at Christ U.C.C. Cemetery, Littlestown. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to CaringBridge - 1995 Rahn Cliff Court, Suite 200, Egan, MN 55122 or to a charity of your choice.
