Evelyn White Evelyn White Jan. 7, 1907 - Sept. 20, 2008 MONTROSE—True to her expansive personality, Evelyn White decided to live the whole 20th century plus eight years into the 21st, dying Sept. 20, 2008. She lived her last years in Colorado, into her 101st year. Preceded in death by her husband, Tilman White, former principal of Pasadena (Texas) High School, and her son, John White, she is survived by her son, Gary White, of Pasadena, Calif., and her daughter, Kathryn Urso, of Ridgway, Colo. Born in Yankton, S.D., in 1907, she moved to Houston with her family in 1917. Earning a B.A. from Rice University and an M.Ed. from the University of Houston, she taught the next 34 years in Houston and Pasadena, Texas school districts. She was a member of the First Presbyterian Church, Rotary, and Pasadena (Texas) Retired Teachers. Evelyn traveled extensively to Europe, Canada, Mexico and the Orient and enjoyed weekly bridge at the Pasadena Senior Center. An April memorial party is planned in Houston. We will send her off in a social way that she would have loved.
