MONTROSE — Jim Dolan, age 78, passed away Oct. 4, 2008 at home in Montrose, Colo. from a heart attack. He was born in Durango, Colo. to Morris and Sylvia (Trone) Dolan. He spent his childhood in Delta and Montrose.
After graduating from Montrose High School in 1949, he joined the United States Navy, 1950-1954, specializing in underwater demolition (UDT). On Oct. 19, 1952 he married Carol Barnes. His hobbies were many, including golf, jeeping in the San Juans and viewing sports of all kinds, especially football.

He is survived by two sons, Timothy W. and David A. Dolan of Montrose; a half sister, Barbara Miercourt (Cliff) of Dallas, Texas; one nephew, Mauri Dolan of Montrose; and three nieces, Roanna Griffin of Houston, Texas, Adele Frangos of Albquerque, N.M., and Raonna Dolan of Grand Junction; and his life long friend, Carol Dolan of Montrose.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Emmett and Sylvia Boyer; two brothers, Chester and Vernon “Red” Dolan; and his biological father, Morris Dolan as well as his grandparents.
At Jim’s request, cremation has taken place. There will be a memorial service to celebrate his life on Friday, Oct. 17, 2008, at 10 a.m., at Crippin Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Mark Marston officiating. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to Hospice & Palliative Care of Western Colorado, P.O. Box 1804, Montrose, CO 81402.
