MONTROSE — Stella M. (Barayazarra) Ordenana, “Mrs.B,” a lifelong Montrose resident, passed away unexpectedly at her home early Tuesday morning, Oct. 28, 2008, at the age of 74.
Stella Marie was born on Sept. 25, 1934 in Montrose, Colo. to Emilio and Pauline (Carabajal) Belarde. Stella spent her childhood in Montrose and graduated from Montrose High School in 1953. In 1959, Stella Belarde married Pedro Barayazarra. In 1960, they welcomed a daughter Nancy Genevieve, and in 1975 had a son Serafin Tomas. The two were married for 31 years until Pedro’s death in 1990.

Stella’s hobbies included for many years bowling on various leagues and in recent years she had become an avid Bingo player. Her favorite hobby however, was that of being a grandmother. The most recent addition of Marcelino Tomas just three months ago filled her last days with a joy she thought she would not see in this lifetime.
Stella is survived by her husband, Manuel Ordenana of Montrose, Colo.; one daughter, Nancy Geary of Grand Junction, Colo.; one son, Serafin Barayazarra of Lakewood, Colo.; one sister, Emily Duran of Commerce City, Colo.; four grandchildren, Elishia Geary, Amanda Geary, Alexander Barayazarra, and Marcelino Barayazarra. She was preceded in death by her parents; three brothers, Joe, Eddie, and Leroy Belarde; one sister, Jennie Romero.
A visitation for family and friends will be held on Sunday, Nov. 2, 2008 from 3 to 6 p.m., at Crippin Funeral Home Chapel. Rosary will be recited at 7 p.m. on Sunday, Nov. 2, 2008 at St. Mary Catholic Church. A funeral Mass is scheduled for Monday, Nov. 3, 2008, at 10 a.m., at St. Mary Catholic Church. Rite of Committal will follow the Mass at Grand View Cemetery in Montrose. Arrangements are under the direction of Crippin Funeral Home, 802 E. Main St., Montrose, CO 81401 (970) 249-2121.
