MONTROSE — Herbert Jesse Williams, age 85, passed away peacefully at his home in Montrose, Colo. on Nov. 5, 2008.

A World War II veteran, he served his country in the U. S. Army. He then attended Colorado State University in Fort Collins and received his degree in electrical engineering.
He married Edna Frances Hampton on June 11, 1950 in Montrose, Colo. She preceded him in death on Jan. 1, 2001.
Herb’s career as an electrical engineer spanned 35 years and included service for Central Colorado Power, Public Service Company of Colorado and Xcel Energy. He lived in the Denver and Boulder area from 1950 to 1985. After retiring in 1985, he moved back to Montrose.
He was a member of the United Methodist Church in Montrose. He was also a member of the Methodist Men’s Club, past member of the Lions Club and Boulder Luncheon Optimist Club.
Herb cherished his family and friends, as evidenced by the many woodworking projects he created for them in his “small-but-mighty” workshop. He also enjoyed gardening, hiking and just being outdoors in the Colorado mountains.
He is survived by his two sons, Steve (Susan) Williams of Oklahoma City, Okla. and Doug Williams of Tucson, Ariz.; two daughters, Kay (Dave) Hibl of Montrose, Colo. and Julie (Jeff) Parks of Boulder, Colo.; nine grandchildren and six great-grandchildren.
Besides his wife preceding him in death, he was also preceded by his parents and one sister, Billie Reeve.
A memorial service will be held on Monday, Nov. 10, at 1 p.m., at the United Methodist Church, 19 S. Park in Montrose. The service will conclude at the church.
