Merleen McCluer

MONTROSE — Merleen McClurer, age 74 of Montrose, Colo., passed away on Tuesday, Nov. 11, 2008 at St. Mary’s Hospital & Medical Center in Grand Junction, Colo.

Merleen was born on Feb. 7, 1934 to Harley Clay and Dorothy (Coats) Killen in Montrose. She spent her childhood in Telluride, Colo. and graduated from high school there in 1952. 

On Feb. 3, 1954, she married Timothy Edward McCluer in Aztec, N.M. They lived in the Placerville, Colo. area for many years before moving to Montrose in 1976.

She was a member of the Rebekah.

Merleen was a very loving and supporting mother for her children and adored her grandchildren; she also loved to do crossword puzzles. 

She is survived by three sons, Dirk (Diane) McCluer of Montana; Mike (Becky) McCluer of Blue Ridge, Ga. and Jerry (Val) McCluer of Montrose; one daughter, Camelia (Paul) Cooper of Nucla, Colo.; six grandchildren, Tammy Dingman of Montrose, T.J. (Kelli) McCluer of Robertson, Wyo., Cole (Nicki) McCluer of Norwood, Colo., Dezaray DeJulio of Montrose, Katie Cooper and Timmy Cooper of Nucla; seven great-granddaughters; great-grandson; one brother, Jerry (Leona) Killen of Salt Lake City, Utah; two sister-in-laws, Dee Killen of The Dallis, Ore. and Frances (Cecil) Goldsworthy of Montrose; one niece; and two nephews.

Besides her husband, Merleen was preceded in death by her parents, one daughter, Marcia Elaine and one brother, Dick Killen.

Graveside memorial service will be held on Thursday, Nov. 13, 2008 at 2:00 p.m. at Grand View Cemetery in Montrose.
