"I love Montrose, but I usually spend my holidays somewhere else because we don't have family around here," said Jack Robinson, a Montrose resident who was taking his family to Ohio for Thanksgiving to see family.
And with holiday travel comes crowded roads and airports.

"Obviously it's not terrible at the Montrose airport, but when you're connecting to a major city like Denver or Dallas, it becomes a hassle," Corbert said. "There's people literally everywhere you go."
The crowded airports and roads have turned some away from traveling for Thanksgiving. Some residents are staying at home and expecting families to come to town this week.
"I dealt with the crowds in airports for several years, before I finally just told relatives that they needed to make some trips out here," said Dennis Brown of Montrose. "I travel sometimes and sometimes they come here. My family likes it here, it's a pretty area."
While Montrose will play host to several out-of-towners this week, it's not something hotels in the area are benefiting from.
Bill Adkins, an employee at the Hampton Inn in Montrose, located at 1980 N. Townsend Ave., said the holidays did not mean increased business for hotels in town.
"It's usually slow for hotels in Montrose around the holidays," Adkins said. "People typically stay with families."
The holidays aren't a complete loss for hotels though.
Atkins said hotels such as the Hampton Inn benefit from Christmas parties thrown by local business and that the Hampton Inn was right on point with its revenue for the holidays so far.
