Fight Night- Violence-What is the School Districts Response?

To the Administration of Montrose High School and the School District:

The Administration of Montrose High School and the School District have been silent on the controversy of Fight Night, the people who send children to all the schools in the district and especially Montrose High School and the taxpayers in the district deserve an answer to some questions about Fight Night.

Did anyone from the Administration attend the event or watch the video? Did Fight Night demonstrate MHS and the school district's philosophy of teaching and high school sports?

Did anyone review the nature of the "Fight Night" event fund raiser and who was responsible for the approval?

If the school district or MHS did not review and approve it, why were MHS students out soliciting donations and selling tickets under the name of the MHS wrestling team?

If Fight Night was a independent fund raiser and not supported by the school district or MHS, why were MHS students out soliciting donations and selling tickets under the name of the MHS wrestling team? Does the school district allow private organizations to use the name of the school in their business pursuits without some accountablilty to the school?

Who is the governing body or rulemaking authority for this fight?

According to Jack Garrison in the Daily Press video interview,  he held this type of event at Western States College and it was discontinued. Why was it stopped at WSC? Was it because this type of event was banned at most colleges?

Standard medical precautions require isoation of any body fluids like blood and basic precautions like rubber gloves be wore by the referee. This is done for the protection of participants and anyone who may be exposed to body fluids that may contain blood borne disease like HIV and Hepatitis. In the Daily Press video, the referee did not have even the most basic protective equipment. Besides being the wrestling coach, what training and qualification does Jack Garrison have to referee a school sanctioned fight? Was there a medical questionaire filled out by the participants?

Jack Garrison stated several times that the wrestling program was "my program" and that the wrestlers were "my wrestlers". Does MHS have any control or oversight over the wrestling program or has the school district and MHS handed ownership over to Jack Garrison.

Jack Garrison made a point of stating that every dime goes to the the wrestling program. Since Garrison raised the issue, has the school district audited the books of the event and the wrestling program to see how $20,000 of private money is being spent? 

The concerned citizens, parents of students and taxpayers of the school district await your timely response.
