Rose, 24, was sentenced for felony menacing. He received three years in Community Corrections, with a suspended prison sentence if he does not successfully complete commcorr.
Rose was on probation for misdemeanor assault in early June when he attacked his brother with a knife after a family argument. Police said at the time the brother sustained torso wounds, but was treated and released from the hospital.

Serra said substance abuse seemed to trigger Rose’s criminal conduct. “If that (abuse) is not an issue, we usually don’t see him. It’s a disturbing pattern. He’s getting more and more violent.”
Serra said holding a prison sentence over Rose’s head might motivate him to turn his life around.
“This is a pretty sad situation that your alcohol (problems) could cause you to do this kind of damage to someone you obviously care about,” Judge Jeff Herron said.
He then imposed the agreed-upon commcorr sentence, with a warning that failure at commcorr would send Rose to prison. Rose received 179 days’ credit for time already served.
