Jack L. Miller Jack L. Miller February 18, 1926 – December 5, 2008 Jack L. Miller, age 82 of Eckert, CO passed away at Palisade Living Center in Palisade, Colorado on December 5th. Jack L. Miller was born on February 18, 1926 in Montrose, Colorado to James C. and Vesta M. (Lomas) Miller. He spent his childhood and received his education in Colona and Uncompaghre, Colorado. Miller proudly served his country in the U.S. Army during WWII. On January 11, 1947, he married Ruth Sturgeon in Aztec, New Mexico. He was a mining engineer for many years. Jack and Ruth moved to Eckert, Colorado in 1985 from Battle Mountain, Nevada. Miller was a lifetime member of the Elk's Lodge #492 in Ouray, Colorado and lifetime member of the VFW in Cedaredge, Colorado. He loved his family and being in the mountains of Colorado and enjoyed camping, hunting, fishing as well as gardening, rock polishes, metalsmithing, and wood turning for family and friends. Jack is survived by his wife Ruth of Eckert, Colorado, three daughters Judi (Terry) Douglass of Chubbuck, Idaho; Katherine (Rick) McGill of Mendecino, California and June (Lloyd) Flowers of Spring Creek, Nevada; 4 grandchildren; Jack Douglass, James (Lora) Douglass, Bryan Flowers and Sarah (Dan) Green); 4 great grandchildren; Ray Douglass, Brookelynn Douglass, Kadi Douglass and Rebekah Douglass; two sisters Geri (Glenn) Caddy and Vera Scharf both of Montrose, and one brother Ralph(Margaret) Linscott of Canon City, Colorado; numerous nieces and nephews. He is preceded in death by his parents and step father Ralph Linscott. In lieu of flowers memorial contributions may be made in Memory of Jack Miller to Ouray Elks Lodge #492, 421 Main St., Ouray, Colorado 81427. A military graveside service will be held on Monday, December 8, 2008 at 1:00 pm at Grand View Cemetery in Montrose, Colorado. Arrangements are being handled by Crippin Funeral Home; 802 E.
