Marcus (Mark) Amadeus Monaghan III

February 15, 1931 – December 18, 2008

MONTROSE — Marcus A. Monaghan III, 77, formerly of Denver, passed away Dec. 18 at Montrose Memorial Hospital.

Marcus spent his childhood in Ohio and later served his country in the Air Force where he obtained the rank of Staff Sergeant.

In 1951 he was joined in marriage to Yvonne H. Evers.  They were blessed with 54 years of marriage and seven beautiful children.  Marcus retired from Samsonite Corporation after 30 years as an engineering supervisor.

 He enjoyed singing and spent many harmonious years singing bass with the Mile High Barbershop Chorus in Denver.  He also enjoyed auto racing, model ship building and HO gauge railroading.

Marcus was preceded in death by his beloved wife; his daughter Christine Pfaus; four sisters and one brother.  He is survived by one sister; Kathleen Dillemuth of Rocky River, Ohio and six of his children: Michael (Julie) Monaghan of Cupertino, Calif., Karen (Ray) Scott of Centennial, Colo., Annette (Tom) Baker of Longmont, Colo., Diane (Jean) Morency of Tucumcari, N.M., Teresa (Philip) Bailey of Montrose, Colo., and Lynn (Matt) Neal of Montrose, Colo., as well as 14 grandchildren, 8 great-grandchildren and several nieces and nephews.

The family had a private memorial. Interment will take place at Fort Logan National Cemetery in Denver on a future date.  Memorial contributions can be made to: Hospice and Palliative Care of Western, Colorado, P.O. Box 24, Delta, CO 81416.
