MONTROSE — Marietta B. Moore, age 91, formerly of Montrose, Colo., passed away Christmas Day, Dec. 25, 2008 at her daughter's home in Goochland, Va. Marietta was born Aug. 17, 1917 in Stratton, Colo. to Millard Edward and Olive Emily (Baker) Harrison. Her father passed away when Marietta was 17 months old. Olive remarried Marion Allen Lent, and he became her dad. Marietta spent her childhood in Vona, Colo., Farmington and Aztec, N.M.

She met and married Carl L. Moore on July 25, 1937 in Durango, Colo. They moved from Aztec, N.M. to Montrose, where they resided and made their home. Carl preceded Marietta in death on Oct. 7, 1992 in Montrose. When Marietta’s health was declining, she spent the last four years prior to her death with her daughter, Brezuna Flanders, in Goochland, Va. Marietta taught Sunday School at a very young age and well into her retirement years, and it was something she thoroughly enjoyed doing. She was a devoted member of the Nazarene Church since she moved to Montrose. She enjoyed children and was an adopted grandma to many who knew her. Marietta loved to spend time crocheting, quilting and gardening. Animals had a special place in her heart.  Survivors include two daughters,Carla Moore of Montrose and Brezuna Marie Flanders of Goochland, Va.; seven grandchildren, Bobbie, Tracy, Kelli, Deanna, Steven, Lorie and Robyn; 17 great-grandchildren; two great great-grandchildren; three sisters, Mary Bland of Montrose, Colo., Lucille Nelson of Oak Harbor, Wash. and Millard Stafford of Goldbar, Wash. 

Marietta was preceded in death by one brother; son, Allen Moore, and daughter, Patricia Brewer; her parents; and husband, Carl.

Visitation for family and friends will be held on Tuesday, Jan. 6, 2009, from 10 to 11 a.m., with the funeral service to follow at 11 a.m. at the First Church of the Nazarene.  Burial will follow the service at Valley Lawns Cemetery in Montrose, Colo.

Memorial contributions may be made for World Missions, in memory of Marietta Moore to First Church of the Nazarene, 705 S. 12th St., Montrose, CO 81401.  Arrangements are under the direction of Crippin Funeral Home, 802 E. Main, Montrose, CO 81401  (970) 249-2121.
