Joseph Macadio ‘Max’ Rocha

MONTROSE — Lifelong Montrose resident, Joseph Macadio “Max” Rocha, age 56, passed away at his home surrounded by his family early Thursday morning, Feb. 19, 2009.

Max was born on Oct. 19, 1952 in Pueblo, Colo. to Joseph and Bertha (Martinez) Rocha. Max moved with his family to Montrose in 1955. Even as a little boy, Max developed the work ethic that would carry him through life. He spent his childhood working alongside his family helping with the onions and potatoes, harvesting beets and picking apples, peaches and cherries.

Max graduated from high school in Montrose in 1970. In 1977, he met Patricia Barnes at City (Buckley) Park when he was 25. They married in Littleton, Colo. on April 12, 1985. Max worked as a concrete finisher in the area, and was known for being a perfectionist when it came to his job. Max’s heart and soul was his family. His wife, sons, daughters and grandchildren always came first. Max spent many happy days camping, fishing and barbequing with his family.

Max is survived by his wife, Patricia (Barnes) Rocha of the family home; his sons, Daniel (Echo) Rocha of Grand Junction, Wayne (Valerie) Rocha of Grand Junction, Joseph Max Rocha of Basin, Wyo.; his daughters, Pammy Rocha of Montrose, and Trisha (Mike) Rocha of Montrose; his sisters, Francis Rocha of Phoenix, Ariz., Smedia Chacon of Montrose, Donna Rocha of Denver; and his half brothers and sisters. Max was preceded in death by his parents and his sister, Anna Herrera.

A memorial service in honor and celebration of Max’s life will be officiated by Hospice Chaplain Don Barr on Monday, Feb. 23, 2009, at 10 a.m., at Valley Lawn Funeral Home. Memorial contributions in Max’s honor may be made to Patricia Rocha, 600 North Cascade, Montrose, CO 81401. Valley Lawn Funeral Home and Cemetery is in charge of the care and arrangements for Max, 505 S. 2nd St. Montrose, CO 81401 (970) 249-4400.
