Don’t ‘waterboard’ JetAway Re: Public officials are ‘grandstanding’ Over the last few weeks, a series of articles have appeared in the Montrose Daily Press concerning JetAway’s attempts to operate a business at the Montrose Regional Airport. Although the debate rages on and the specifics are unclear, it appears a little grandstanding by several public servants is creating delays in the decision making process. Why the approval or disapproval is mired down seems to contradict itself, as if there are personal motives scuttling something that would be good for the community. The Montrose Economic Development Corp. has been backing JetAway and there appears to be support in the community, so one has to ask the question: Is the public officials in favor of growth and jobs? I guess when growth raises its ugly head, there are those without vision, those who will reject the future through exhaustive, wearisome and irrelevant hackneyed behavior. They act to be happy and serve the people, but act to make both impossible. The adversary who is the most formidable is the one who works within the fortress walls, singing peasant songs while licking honey off knives. County commissioners, it’s either serve the community or serve your own delicious prejudices. In conclusion, commissioners, please refrain from performing local government’s version of water boarding. Jim Hassell Fruita
