 MONTROSE — Dan King Turner, age 79, of Montrose, Colo., passed away Monday, March 2, 2009 at Montrose Memorial Hospital.

Dan was born Jan. 7, 1930 to Loid and Verle (McClanahan) Turner at Cedaredge, Colo.  He spent his childhood in Cortez and graduated high school in 1948. He married Leona Grabowski on May 29, 1954 in Poultney, Vt. Dan served his country in the United States Navy and was honorably discharged after serving for more than 20 years. He was a managing consultant in the computer business for many years, residing in Oxon Hill, Md. prior to moving to Montrose in 1988. He and Leona enjoyed their retirement, traveling extensively and enjoying friends and family.

Suvivors include his wife Leona, of Montrose, Colo; their children, Stephan Turner and wife Regina, of Durango, Colo., Patrick Turner and wife Jennifer of Waldorf, Md., Linda Silver and husband Nathan of Arvada, Colo.; two grandchildren, David and Cate Turner of Waldorf, Md. Dan was preceded in death by his parents and sister, Jackie Bray.

A memorial service in celebration of Dan’s life will be held on at 1 p.m. Friday, March 6, 2009, at Crippin Funeral Home Chapel. The service will conclude at the chapel. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to The Uncompahgre Trail Riders, in memory of Dan Turner, P.O.
