Jack was a lifelong resident of the Montrose area. Jack attended school in Olathe and graduated in 1965. After graduation, Jack attended Lionel’s Automotive Technical School in Denver, Colo. On Nov. 11, 1967, Jack married the love of his life, Sharon Frasier. The couple made their home in Montrose and were blessed with two boys, Bret and Bryan. Jack was a member of the Montrose Christian Church, Montrose BPOE and the Men’s Bowling Association. In 1989, Jack was named Honorary Chapter Farmer with the Montrose chapter of the Future Farmers of America. Jack loved his family and spent as much time as he could with them. He loved the outdoors and spent time hunting, fishing, camping, four-wheeling and snowmobiling. Jack also enjoyed bowling and softball. One great passion of his was racing. He enjoyed watching NASCAR and cheering for his favorite driver, Jeff Gordon. But his favorite racing pastime was racing locally with his sons. The three of them joined to make Reed and Sons Racing. Jack’s truck was named Achy Breaky Parts, and he enjoyed driving it all over the Western Slope. In 1994, Bret and Bryan got the family back into stock car racing and Jack soon followed. Many memories and fun followed as the family spent most of their time together racing.
