September 22, 1940 – April 26, 2009

MONTROSE — Norbert Wollner, age 68, of Montrose, Colo., passed away early Sunday morning April 26, 2009 at the Montrose Memorial Hospital with his loving wife Patricia by his side.

Norbert was born Sept. 22, 1940 to Nikolaus and Margareta (Wolf) Wollner in Mainz, Germany. Norbert spent his childhood in Germany where he also received his education.

Norbert came to the United States as a young man, and enlisted in the United States Navy, serving on the aircraft carrier, the USS Bon Homme Richard.

Norbert lived in Commerce City, Colo. as well as Utah, before settling in Montrose until the time of his death.

Norbert loved the outdoors. He enjoyed fishing with his friends and gardening. He and Patricia also loved to travel.

Survivors include his wife, Patricia Wollner of the family home; daughters, Monica, Sonya, and Erica all of California; a brother, Horst, of Grand Junction, Colo.; two sisters, Margaret, of Grand Junction and Ingrid of Washington state; as well as eight beloved grandchildren.

Memorial contribution may be made to Hospice & Palliative Care of Western Colorado, in loving memory of Norbert Wollner, P.O. Box 1804, Montrose, CO 81402.

A memorial service will be held on Tuesday, April 28, 2009 at 10 a.m. at the Hampton Inn, 1980 N. Townsend Ave., Mt. Sneffles Room in Montrose, with Pastor Paul Nystrom officiating. Arrangements are under the direction and care of Crippin Funeral Home, 802 E. Main St., Montrose, CO 81401, (970) 249-2121.
