Former MHS Soccer Player Named Scholar-Athlete

RICHARDSON, TX — Lisa Whitfield, a 2007 graduate of Montrose High School, earned a place on the Distinguished ASC Scholar-Athlete team for women's soccer in the American Southwest Conference for 2008-2009, according to Howard Payne University.

Whitfield, a sophomore psychology major, has accumulated a 3.79 GPA in her time at Howard Payne.

She was named team captain and received the honors of Outstanding Defense and Most Improved Player. Playing in 14 games for the Lady Jackets this season at defender, she helped the team to its best season in the program's three year history.

The honor recognizes student-athletes that achieve a 3.20 GPA or better while competing as a starter or important reserve for their team.
