Mark A. Adair June 4, 1962 — June 17, 2009 Muncie, Ind. — Mark A. Adair, 47, passed away June 17, 2009, following an extended illness. He was born, June 4, 1962, in Longview, Wash., the son of Royce and Nancy (Gelbke) Adair and moved to Muncie in 1994 where he worked for Anchor Glass and was a project engineer for Saint Gobain (the past 11 years). He graduated from Indian Hills High School, Oakland, N.J. and the University of Utah, Salt Lake City, Utah, with a bachelor of science degree in mechanical engineering. Prior to moving to Muncie, he had been employed as an engineer with Newmont Mines, Elko, Nev. and Kingsford Charcoal, Somerset, Ky. He was a member of St. Mary Catholic Church in Muncie. Mark loved his family and enjoyed taking them camping, boating and water skiing. There was never a more loving and loyal son, husband, father, or friend. Mark is survived by his wife, Susan; two sons, Michael and Matthew; a daughter, Amy; his parents, Royce and Nancy (Gelbke) Adair, of Montrose; a sister, Tamara Adair Hiserote (husband, Jay), Beaverton, Ore.; two brothers, Scott Adair, Munising, Mich. and Brian Adair (wife, Cindy), Danville, Calif.; and he was a dedicated uncle to 11 nephews and eight nieces. Mark will be fondly remembered by all of his family, his wife’s family of three brothers and three sisters, and a multitude of friends, many of whom were also colleagues (he was a highly respected engineer). He especially loved his job with Saint Gobain. He was preceded in death by an infant daughter, Megan; his grandparents, Alfred and Mardale Gelbke and Roy and Marie Adair; and his father-in-law and mother-in-law, Harry and Betty Groves, Canon City, Colo., who could not have asked for a more loving son for their daughter, Susan or father of their grandchildren, Amy, Michael, and Matthew. Mass of Christian Burial will be held in St. Mary Catholic Church, Muncie at 10 a.m. on Saturday, June 20, 2009, with Father Andrew Dudzinski officiating. Burial will follow in Elm Ridge Cemetery.
