Montrose - Daily Press

The noise ordinance Montrose passed a while back doesnt appear to apply to bars and the excessive music that goes on well into the night.  Without naming names, there is at least one bar downtown that blasts its karaoke, and music so loud it can be easily heard a block and half away.

I dont know if this is bothersome to other residents nearby, but it sure is annoying and by the standards set in the ordinance, against the law. The Montrose Police Department apparently condones this since they visit these bars regularly, or it may be they dont understand a code is in violation. The city is in need of revenue, cite the obvious violations.

I would certainly enjoy MIM if it were held at the end of the standard work week. Until then, I suggest that the noise cease at 10pm on Sunday through Thursday nights. "

Even walking down the street you couldn't hear the music unless the doors to the saloon opened. They must have had some type of system to keep the music inside. Why don't the bars here have that? The owners of these dogs don't have enough respect for neighbors and allow thier dogs to bark for no reason at all. DPD regularly dropped by with decibel meters measuring sound on the sidewalk and ticketed accordingly.

Owners 'imposing' their business upon residents are liable to class action on behalf of the residents, trust me I know this. "
