Jose U. Chavez

ALBUQUERQUE — Jose U. Chavez, born in Durango, Colo. on Dec. 24, 1949, passed away in Albuquerque, N.M. on Friday, June 19, 2009. He honorably served his country in the US Army during the Vietnam War. Jose worked in construction, building houses and painting. He also loved to race cars. Jose will also be remembered for his love of hanging out with friends, smoking and wearing Levi 501’s.  

He was preceded in death by his father, George Chavez; mother, Mary Chavez; brother, Michael Chavez; sister, Sarra Chavez; and two nephews, Jessie Chavez and Brian Keylon. Jose is survived by his three children, Julian Chavez, Karen Madrid-Chavez, and Kevin Chavez; nine siblings, Bertha Keylon, Helen Maez and husband, John, Lorraine Montano, Steve Chavez, Lloyd Chavez, Inez Gonzales and husband, Alberto, Fred Chavez and wife, Gina, Bernadette Hopper, Pat Chavez and wife, RoseMary; several grandchildren, and other family members and friends who loved him and will miss him. Private family services will be held in Montrose, Colo.
