The noise ordinance Montrose passed a while back doesnt appear to apply to bars and the excessive music that goes on well into the night.  Without naming names, there is at least one bar downtown that blasts its karaoke, and music so loud it can be easily heard a block and half away.

I dont know if this is bothersome to other residents nearby, but it sure is annoying and by the standards set in the ordinance, against the law. The Montrose Police Department apparently condones this since they visit these bars regularly, or it may be they dont understand a code is in violation. The city is in need of revenue, cite the obvious violations.

" to all the party goers, the law is the law, it doesnt matter who was here first, and those codes were put in place by your elected, the music lasts until midnite on weekends. as mentioned by another writer, class action would be a painful hit to the wallet of the owner if there is a refusal to comply with code, something to think about. " I managed for 7 years a successful 5 mil per year nightclub that had live bands 7 nights a week in Denver and Im not sure how the law reads here in Montrose, but in Denver, the owner must "contain" noise levels reaching the sidewalk. DPD regularly dropped by with decibel meters measuring sound on the sidewalk and ticketed accordingly.

Owners 'imposing' their business upon residents are liable to class action on behalf of the residents, trust me I know this. "

" Well, who was there first? I bet Main Street was. So if you move next to a commercial area, what do you expect? And 10:30 is not late. There is so little to do in this town, and all you want to do is complain about people trying to have a good time (at a completely reasonable hour). Let me guess, people should live life by your rules, and your rules only, right!?

Now, if you told me it was 3AM, I'd back you completely! "

At a mile distant, we hear MIM, HS football, & the fair-grounds. "

This music can be heard and is very disturbing to those us who live six blocks north!!! Come on people, have a little consideration. "
