Ferne C. Kraus, age 81, of Montrose, went to be with the Lord on Thursday, June 25, 2009, surrounded by family at her home in Montrose. Ferne was born Feb. 1, 1928 to George Joseph and Elsie Cordellia (Krabbe) Morlang at Olathe, Colo. She spent her childhood and received her education in Olathe. Ferne married Jake Kraus Jr. on Nov. 22, 1947 in Montrose and had the joy of celebrating almost 60 years before he preceded her in death on Aug. 4, 2007 in Montrose. She was a loving and dedicated wife, mother and grandmother. Ferne enjoyed spending time with her family, especially her sisters, children and grandchildren. She enjoyed hosting family dinners. Ferne loved having company and her hospitality always shined. She was such a caring person and was always interested in the needs of others, even days prior to her passing. Ferne enjoyed working with her hands. She was a seamstress and enjoyed art and craft work, gardening, canning and cooking. Her relationship with God was very important to her. Ferne will be greatly missed by her family and friends.

A visitation for family and friends will be held on Monday, June 29, 2009 from 10 a.m. to 11am at Crippin Funeral Home Chapel. Following the visitation at 11 a.m., there will be a procession to Olathe Cemetery for a graveside service for Ferne. Hospice Chaplain, Don Barr will officiate the service. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Hospice & Palliative Care of Western Colorado, in memory of Ferne Kraus, P.O. Box 1804, Montrose, Colo 81402. Arrangements are under the direction of Crippin Funeral Home & Crematory, Montrose, Colo.
