Isgar wins Ag Department post

WASHINGTON, D.C. — State Sen. Jim Isgar has been officially appointed as state director for Rural Development within the U.S. Department of Agriculture.

Isgar, who represents District 6, including Montrose, will be leaving the senate in order to accept the position.

"Jim Isgar will be an important advocate on behalf of rural communities throughout the state and help administer the valuable programs and services provided by the USDA that can enhance their economic success," Ag Secretary Tom Vilsack said in a news release.

Isgar, D-Hesperus, could not be immediately reached for comment.
