Food vendor licensing Re: Health concerns, Daily Press, June 27 It is the goal of the Montrose County Health & Human Services to assist individuals and organizations/businesses wanting to provide food to the public at our many local events to meet the many State of Colorado regulations. At the recent Montrose Main in Motion some organizations providing food had not been on the original list provided to our agency and therefore did not receive the notification regarding the need to obtain a food vendor’s license. We will make every effort to ensure that organizations will not encounter these same obstacles to participation in events in the future. We would like to clarify again what we at the health department must do to ensure the health and safety of the public as it relates to food being sold or given to the public at public events. Anyone serving food at temporary/special events as well as selling food from mobile units are required to have a food license. Such events include county fairs, Main In Motion and other events where food is being served to the public. To obtain an application for a license or if you have questions, call the environmental health program at Montrose County Health & Human Services – 252-5000.
