Coloradans take aim

MONTROSE — 127 Coloradans from all over the state aimed for success this weekend — literally.

On Saturday, the Black Canyon Archers hosted day one of the Colorado State Archery Target Tournament at the Sunset Mesa Sports Compex.

The Black Canyon Archers is a local group under the the Colorado State Archery Association, which looks to effectively develop archery throughout Colorado.

Over a hundred archers from across Colorado traveled to Montrose Colo., to compete in the Target Tournament archery competition presented by the Colorado State Archery Association at Sunset Mesa in Montrose Colo. Saturday morning June 27, 2009. The Black Canyon archers of Montrose hosted the event which concludes Sunday June 28, 2009. For more information visit www.coloradoarchery.org. In this weekend's tournament, participants have the opportunity to earn up to 1500 points. In Saturday's 900 point round, participants shot six arrows in six different rounds at distances of 40-yards, 50-yards and 60-yards.
