Hundreds of Montrose residents celebrated the Nation's holiday playing games such as tug-of-war, carry-a-wife race and the dunk tank. A helicopter dropped 5,000 ping-pong balls each with a code to redeem a prize. Interview with Summerfest organizer Polly Hohlenkamp.

    " This was an accurate display of greed overcoming human kindness by the citizens of Montrose. To see adults, including grandparents, shoving children aside to get to those prizes was insane. My four children were shoved and knocked down, but at least they didn't have a gash on their heads like the 3-year-old that an elderly man knocked down to grab a prize. Yes, the prizes mean a lot in this economy - our family is on food stamps and struggling. No excuse, though, for this behavior. Pitiful and disgusting. "
